New Holland, PA – May 24, 2024 – MODLOGIQ, the leader in SMART OFF-SITE CONSTRUCTION, celebrates the opening of the Emergency Department of the Athens Medical Campus—the largest permanent healthcare facility in North America built using off-site modular construction. The first day of emergency care operations will be preceded by a public Open House welcoming members of the Athens community from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2024.
The 25,000 square foot, first-floor Emergency Department is the initial phase in the rollout of healthcare services by Memorial Health System within the 4-story, ~100,000 square foot facility. The Emergency Department features a Trauma Bay, imaging suites including CT, X-ray, and Ultrasound, Triage Rooms, Exam Rooms (including Negative Pressure Exam Rooms), Psychiatric Evaluation Rooms, Pharmacy, an Ambulance Vestibule for receiving ambulance patients. For families and friends accompanying patients, there is a café just off the waiting area that offers food and beverages.
Thanks to off-site modular construction, Memorial Health System will start providing healthcare services to the Athens community 15 months sooner than would have been possible with conventional, site-built construction. Off-site construction of the 204 modules that comprise the building began in New Holland, PA in October of 2022 while extensive site prep, including a large retaining wall erected along the back of the property facing the river, was underway at the same time. “We can’t wait for patients to experience the new facility and the care we provide, enabling them to stay closer to home,” says Memorial Health System CEO, Scott Cantley. Cantley noted that this new construction has been key to bringing important healthcare services to the community more quickly than feasible with conventional construction. https://www.mhsystem.org/news/memorial-health-system-announces-athens-medical-campus-community-open-house/
“SMART OFF-SITE CONSTRUCTION is perfectly suited to a complex, multi-story healthcare facility like the Athens Medical Campus,” says Jim Gabriel, President and CEO of MODLOGIQ. “We integrate Building Information Modeling (BIM), collaboration with partners who have extensive experience in healthcare/off-site modular construction, and our unique “Build Together” process to deliver important benefits to Medical Innovations Development (mind) and Memorial Health System.”
